Prof. Marcel VAN DE VOORDE has PhD degrees in natural and technical sciences. He is ewr. Professor form the University of technology, Delft (NL) and visiting professor at recognized universities worldwide. He also had research direction functions at CERN (European organisation for nuclear research), Geneva in Switzerland, European Commission Research in Brussels and Max Planck institute at Stuttgart in Germany. He is co-founder of IMEC, a technology Centre in Leuven, Belgium with 2000 science employees. Prof. VAN DE VOORDE is senator of the European Academy for Sciences and arts in Salzburg and trustee at the world academy for sciences in the US. Prof. Jordi Arbiol graduated in Physics at Universitat de Barcelona (UB) in 1997, where he also obtained his PhD (European Doctorate and PhD Extraordinary Award) in 2001 in the field of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) applied to nanostructured materials. He was Assistant Professor at UB. From 2009 to 2015 he was Group Leader at Institut de Ciència de Materials de Barcelona, ICMAB-CSIC. Since 2017 he is President of the Spanish Microscopy Society (SME), was Vice-President from 2013 to 2017 and since 2009 he is Member of its Executive Board. In 2018 he was elected as Member of the Executive Board of the International Federation of Societies for Microscopy (IFSM) (2019-2026). Since 2015 he is the leader of the Group of Advanced Electron Nanoscopy at Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia (ICN2), CSIC and BIST. He has been awarded with the 2014 EMS Outstanding Paper Award, the EU40 Materials Prize 2014 (E-MRS), listed in the Top 40 under 40 Power List (2014) by The Analytical Scientist and the PhD Extraordinary Award in 2001 (UB). He has published more than 315 papers, cited more than 11971 WoS (15525 GoS) and h-index: 62 WoK (71 GoS).
Dr Steffi Friedrichs has been a leading expert, policy advisor and business representative for emerging technological innovation for nearly 20 years. She is currently the Founder and Director of AcumenIST, an internationally active consultancy that drives the advancement of science- and technology-based innovations through proactive initiatives in the public and private sector. Before joining AcumenIST, Steffi worked for the OECD, where she developed its definition, indicators and impact assessment of biotechnology and nanotechnology, and led two international workshops on genome editing. Dr. Osman Adiguzel graduated from Department of Physics, Ankara University, Turkey in 1974 and received PhD- degree from Dicle University, Diyarbakir-Turkey. He studied at Surrey University, Guildford, UK, as a post doctoral research scientist in 1986-1987, and his studies focused on shape memory alloys. He worked as research assistant, 1975-80, at Dicle University and shifted to Firat University in 1980. He became professor in 1996, and he has already been working as professor. He published over 50 papers in international and national journals; He joined over 100 conferences and symposia in international and national level as participant, invited speaker or keynote speaker with contributions. Dr. Adiguzel served his directorate of Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences, Firat University in 1999-2004. He supervised 5 PhD- theses and 3 M.Sc theses. Dr. Anthony William Coleman FRSC was born in Bradford, UK in 1953, he obtained a BA in Chemistry from Jesus College, University of Oxford in 176 and a D. Phil. In Organometallic Chemistry at the University of Sussex in 1980. After post-docs at Université de Rennes and University of Victoria he joined the group of Prof. Jerry. Atwood at the University of Alabama, here he initiated research on calix-arenes, finally observing the solid-state structure of the para-sulphonato-calix[n]arenes in 1986.After a move to the Unvisersité de Paris-Sud in 1987, the research shifted to the use of amphiphilic cyclodextrins and bio-molecule transport. In 1994 ne moved to the Université de Lyon 1 in 1994 and switched back to research on bio-active calix[n]arenes. During this period discoveries were made on Prion detection, membrane protein solubilisation and other biological properties of anioinic calix[n]arenes. A move to the move to the Laboratoire Multimateriaux and Interfaces was accompanied by a move to the biological properties of calix|n]arene capped silver nanoparticles. Since 2012 Dr Coleman has been investigating the chemical possibilities of 3D printed systems.He is author of three hundred research articles, over 120 invited talks and 25 patents. He has numerous international projects underway in particular with the University of Tokyo and the Polish Academy of Sciences. Elected FRSC in 2010, has appointed Associate Editor of RSC Advances in 2015.
