Genomic and TeleMedicine

Telemedicine and Genomic medicine are two rapidly developing areas driven in part by new technologies. Together they offer the promise of new configurations of health care without time or distance boundaries. Telemedicine literally means “distance” (Greek word “Tele”) and “to heal” (Latin word “Mederi”).

Occupational Medicine

Occupational Medicine, formerly called industrial medicine, the branch of medicine concerned with the maintenance of health and the prevention and treatment of diseases and accidental injuries in working populations in the workplace.

Emergency Medicine Critical Care Medicine

Emergency Medicine Critical Care (EMCC) is a subspecialty of emergency medicine dealing with the care of the critically ill both in the ED and in the rest of the hospital. An Emergency Physician Intensivist (EPI) is a physician who has completed a residency in emergency medicine and a fellowship in critical care.

Cardiovascular Medicine

A branch of medicine that specializes in diagnosing and treating diseases of the heart, blood vessels, and circulatory system. These diseases include coronary artery disease, heart rhythm problems, and heart failure.

 

 

Pulmonology Medicine

Pulmonology is considered a branch of internal medicine, and is related to intensive care medicine. Pulmonology often involves managing patients who need life support and mechanical ventilation. Pulmonologists are specially trained in diseases and conditions of the chest, particularly pneumonia, asthma, tuberculosis, emphysema, and complicated chest infections

 

 

Case Report and Studies in Internal Medicine

A case report is a detailed report of the symptoms, signs, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of an individual patient. Case reports usually describe an unusual or novel occurrence and as such, remain one of the cornerstones of medical progress and provide many new ideas in medicine.

 

 

Obesity and Integrative Medicine

The case is made that to be effective, clinical approaches must emphasize both prevention and holism, salient principles of integrative preventive medicine.

 

 

Internal Medicine in Dermatology

There are some programs that highly prize someone having done internal medicine or pediatric training before completing dermatology. You will see many of the older dermatology academic attendings who have completed both.
