Title: Dealing With Depression Through Self-Actualization

Abstract:

Depression (MDD) is a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act. Given a broader understanding about this mental health condition, a person going through Depression experiences hopelessness, loneliness, lack of motivation to lead a normal life and sometimes it can even trigger suicidal tendencies. The general cures prescribed by Mental Health Professionals are anti-depressants including but not limited to SSRI, SNRI, and other prescriptions. While these help the patient to get a dose of serotonin, it also induces some of the side effects such as: hypoglycemia, or low blood sugar, low sodium, nausea, rashes, dry mouth, constipation or diarrhea, weight loss/gain, sweating, tremors, sedation, sexual dysfunction, insomnia, dizziness, and much more. Considering the lifelong and severe side effects of anti-depressants, I have been able to bring forward a carefully conceptualized method of Therapy which includes the Person Centered approach by Carl Rogers in combination with the Guided Heartfulness Meditation which has been able to bring the clients out of Depression. Their condition was confirmed by their Psychiatrists, as reported to me by the clients.
