Biography: Gabor A. Somorjai has been a leader in the field of Catalysis for more than 45 years. He has published almost 1200 papers and 4 books. He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley in 1960 and he was appointed to the faculty there in 1964. Since then, he has won just about every honor in his field. In 2011 he was the recipient of the Honda Prize, the ENI New Frontiers of Hydrocarbons Prize and the BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Award. He has received the Priestley Medal (2008), the National Medal of Science (2002) the Wolf Prize (1998). Somorjai became a member of the National Academy of Sciences in 1979 and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1983

Biography: Mani Kannan is a Doctorate in Biotechnology and works as a SERB-National Post Doctoral Fellow at ICAR-National Research Centre for Banana, Tamil Nadu, India. He holds B. Sc., in Zoology and M.Sc., in Biotechnology. Kannan has 7 years of working experience in insect proteomics and Genomics. He has published more 30 national and international research articles in well reputed journals. Recently, he is worked on identification of chemo-olfactory related genes from antennae of Odoiporus longicollis for design new tool for pest management. He has presented an abstract on Molecular characterization of pupal gut protease from silkworm, Bombyx mori at 7th Asia Pacific Biotech congress, Beijing China. Kannan has completed schooling at Attur, Salem, Tamil Nadu and is passionate about insect pest management which is attacking both plants and animals.

Biography: Born in 1982, Muriel Billamboz graduated from the National Higher School of Chemistry in Lille, France in 2005. She then defended her PhD on the design and biological evaluation on novel antiviral compounds against HIV. In 2008, she integrated a pharmaceutical industry and specialized in process development of active ingredients for preclinical studies. She then joined a Higher School of Chemistry as an assistant professor and worked on Green Chemistry and valorization of biomass by using new activation technologies. She is currently Associate Professor and authored more than 30 peer-reviewed papers and 4 patents in the field of Sustainable Chemistry and Health. Her current interest is the design and evaluation of new biosourced compounds to fight antibiotic resistance.
