Webinar on Metal Research

Aims to bring together international scientists and engineers in academia and industry in fields related to research in metals and alloys

Briefly Know About This Event

1st  Webinar on Metal Research will be held from February 10th , 2021 in London, UK. The overall objective of the webinar is to bring together international scientists and engineers in academia and industry in fields related to research in metals and alloys, more specifically related to their mechanical behaviour, material properties, metallurgical behaviour and microstructures etc., and their applications to a wide range of engineering disciplines. All types of metals, e.g. iron, brass, copper, aluminium, steel, etc., and all types of alloys, e.g. stainless steel, alloys of gold and silver, high-temperature alloys, magnetic alloys, etc., are considered in the webinar. Longdom invites all experts to be part this webinar series and make it a perfect platform for knowledge sharing and networking.

Materials science covers a part of engineering which involves discovering and designing new materials and analyzing their properties and structure. It includes the study of the characteristics and uses of different materials like metals, ceramics, and plastics that are employed in science and technology. Different materials have different strengths and weaknesses and are better for different purposes. Part of materials science involves classifying materials putting them into groups. Materials are generally split into four main groups like metals, polymers, ceramics, and composites.

A substance with high electric conductivity, shiny surface, luster, and malleability, which comfortably loses electrons to form positive ions is known as metals. Metals are described according to their position on the Periodic table, together with groupings as alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, transition metals, and uncommon earth metals. Atoms of metals quite simply lose their outer shell electrons, resulting in a free flowing cloud of electrons inside their solid arrangement. This provides the potential of metal materials to easily transmit heat and electricity.

The mineral is a manifestly happening chemical compound which is usually in crystalline and inorganic form. A mineral has one unique chemical composition but a rock can be a combination of different minerals. The study of minerals is referred to as mineralogy.

An ore is a special type of rock that contains a large amount of a particular mineral (usually a metal) to make it economically practical to extract that mineral from the surrounding rock. Ores can be mined in a number of ways, including strip mining. Ores are classified based on how they form like magmatic or volcanic ores, Carbonate alkaline ores, metamorphic ores, Sedimentary ore.

Nanomaterials are one of the main objects or structures that are designed and produced by Nanotechnologies at the size level of approximately 1-100 nanometers. Nanomaterial research is a field that takes a materials science-based approach on nanotechnology. Nanoparticles are objects with all three external dimensions at the nanoscale. Nanoparticles that are naturally occurring or are the incidental byproducts of combustion processes are usually physically and chemically heterogeneous and often termed ultrafine particles. Engineered nanoparticles are intentionally produced and designed with very specific properties related to shape, size, surface properties and chemistry. These properties are reflected in aerosols, colloids, or powders. Often, the behavior of nanomaterials may depend more on surface area than particle composition itself.

Molecular nanotechnology is a technology using molecular manufacturing, based on the ability to build structures to complex, atomic specification by means of mechanosynthesis. It would involve combining physical principles demonstrated by chemistry, nanotechnologies, and the molecular machinery of life with the systems engineering principles found in modern macroscale factories.
