Briefly Know About This Event

Digital dentistry refers to the use of dental technologies or devices that incorporates digital or computer-controlled components to carry out dental procedures rather than using mechanical or electrical tools. Used as a way to facilitate dental treatments and propose new ways to meet rising patient demands. Additive manufacturing allows producing crowns very quickly, as the process can be done by the dentist by himself. It is one of the most common applications of 3D printing in dentistry. It is possible to get a scan of the patient's teeth, to model it and to directly print the crown.

Webinar on Digital Dentistry and 3D Printing will be hosted on April 27, 2020 at 10:00 AM (GMT+4). Panel of speakers will be delivering their presentations on their recent research related to Advanced Dentistry and 3D Printing. Additive manufacturing allows producing crowns very quickly, as the process can be done by the dentist by himself. It is one of the most common applications of 3D printing in dentistry. It is possible to get a scan of the patient's teeth, to model it and to directly print the crown. Benefits of 3D printing are numerous and this method can definitely help any medical professional to produce adapted medical devices. Here are a few examples of how 3D printing and more precisely the use of dental modelling software and dental 3D printers can help to improve the dentists, orthodontists and prosthetists daily work.

Prosthodontics is a branch of dental medicine that focuses on the use of dental prosthetics. It involves the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of dental problems, usually involving tooth loss or severe tooth damage, and the maintenance of prostheses that have been prescribed. Additionally, prosthodontics also has a super-specialty called maxillofacial prosthodontics, which involves the treatment and management of problems that affect the appearance of the head and neck area. Such cases, however, require a multidisciplinary treatment approach, wherein prosthodontics is combined with maxillofacial surgery, plastic surgery, head and neck surgery, occupational therapy, speech therapy and physiotherapy.

Restorative dentistry is the term dental professionals use to explain how they replace missing or damaged teeth. Fillings, crowns (“caps”), bridges and implants are common restorative options. The goal is to bring back your natural smile and prevent future oral health issues. Restorative dentistry is the study, diagnosis and integrated management of diseases of the teeth and their supporting structures and the rehabilitation of the dentition to functional and aesthetic requirements of the individual.

Oral hygiene is the practice of keeping one's mouth clean and free of disease and other problems by regular brushing of the teeth and cleaning between the teeth. It is important that oral hygiene be carried out on a regular basis to enable prevention of dental disease and bad breath.

CAD/CAM systems use an optical camera to take a virtual impression by creating a 3D image which is imported into a software program and results in a computer-generated cast on which the restoration is designed. Bonded veneer CAD/CAM restorations are more conservative in their preparation of the tooth.
