Beautiful in every season, the city enjoys a mild climate with moderate rainfall throughout the year. Paris is a global hub of beauty, creativity, art, and fashion, proudly hosting legendary fashion houses such as Dior and Chanel, along with many celebrated designers. It is also home to the world’s largest cosmetics company, L’Oréal, and three of the top five global manufacturers of luxury fashion accessories, reinforcing its status as the true fashion capital of the world.

Tourism in Paris

Tourism is a key pillar of Paris’s economy and global identity. In 2020, the city recorded around 12.6 million visitors based on hotel stays, a sharp decline of 73% from 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with foreign arrivals dropping by more than 80%, while museums and attractions reopened in 2021 under health restrictions. Before the pandemic, Paris consistently ranked among the world’s top tourist destinations, welcoming about 17.95 million international overnight visitors in 2018, mainly for sightseeing and shopping, with total numbers significantly higher when domestic tourists are included. World-famous landmarks such as Notre-Dame Cathedral, Disneyland Paris, Sacré-Cœur, the Palace of Versailles, the Louvre Museum, the Eiffel Tower, Centre Pompidou, and the Musée d’Orsay draw millions each year, attracting visitors predominantly from the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, Italy, China, and Canada.
