Title: Thermal Ablation in the treatment of Micropapillary Thyroid Cancer

Abstract:

Nodular thyroid diseases are quite common conditions in the general population, especially females. Although approximately 5 to 10% of thyroid nodules are malignant, these tumors currently represent the fifth most common malignant neoplasm in females, one of the fastest-growing malignancies globally. Although surgery is a highly effective treatment, it can have relevant consequences for patients' quality of life, especially the daily need for thyroid hormones and the slight chance, it is true, of permanent sequelae such as dysphonia and hypoparathyroidism. Today, a significant part of thyroid cancers are diagnosed in their early stages, allowing for minimally invasive treatments, including Thermal Ablations. This presentation will address the indications and results of this therapeutic option, especially Radiofrequency Ablations, discussing its pros and cons in treating early malignant thyroid tumors.
