Title: Anaerobic digestion of lignin to produce methane; influence of Wet Explosion Pretreatment

Biography: Muhammad Usman Khan is a graduate student of Biological Systems Engineering and is working on anaerobic digestion of different substrates after pretreatments to enhance methane production. Lignin is considered inert under anaerobic conditions. Mr. Khan is working on lignin pretreatment to enhance its degradation during anaerobic digestion. Lignin conversion to biogas will open new pathway for biofuel industry this abundantly available raw material.
